JABEZ PRESS PUBLISHES 2005 COMPOSITION INVITATIONAL WINNER JUDITH LANG ZAIMONT

FORT WORTH, TEXAS
February 23, 2007

Jabez Press, LLC, a Fort Worth–based publishing company and record label, proudly announces the publication of A Calendar Set: Twelve Preludes for Piano by Judith Lang Zaimont. Winner of the 2005 JABEZ PRESS Composition Invitational, the publication includes twelve contrasting preludes, each representing an individual month of the year. It is an engaging showcase for the talents of Judith Lang Zaimont, one of America’s most successful contemporary composers. A Calendar Set was composed between 1972 and 1978, and since that time its popularity has proven it to be a substantial and compositionally-sophisticated addition to modern piano repertoire.

Judith Lang Zaimont has contributed over 100 works to contemporary piano literature, many of which are prize-winning compositions played throughout the world. Having been a recipient of the Aaron Copland Award, the Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship and many other honors, Zaimont has most recently won the 2005 Bush Artist Fellowship in Composition and the 2005–2006 Kaplan Foundation Commission for new college-level Wind Ensemble.

“JABEZ PRESS is thrilled to make this wonderful collection of pieces available. It is was a substantial undertaking for us to mold her original manuscript into a beautifully laid-out publication,” said Douglas Briley, President of JABEZ PRESS. “And now pianists everywhere can thoroughly enjoy the accessibility of this piece.”
