
Douglas Briley holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in piano performance from Michigan State University, where he studied with husband and wife team Dai Uk Lee and Yong Hi Moon.
He has worked extensively with Van Cliburn gold medalists Steven DeGroote and Ralph Votapek, in addition to studies at the Round Top Festival Institute with Eugene Rowley.
Mr. Briley has won competitions in both performance and composition, and he has performed recitals and appeared with orchestras throughout Texas and the Midwest.
In 2002 he was named Composer of the Year by the Texas Music Teachers Association, which resulted in the commission of his Quintet for a Healing Nation.
He and his wife Rebecca live in Fort Worth with their four children, Russell, Elizabeth, Lanham, and Coleson.
